i loved the movie the illusionist. it was so interesting. i really liked all the tricks he did. i didn't ever predict the ending. i would have never guessed that it was all one long plan. i want to see the movie again and see if i can see the little foreshadowing through out the movie. i think it would be just as good the second time through. i also liked the riddles that he told us at the end of class on friday. they were hard but if felt good when you got them. today i went snowboarding for the first time in four years. i started off pretty bad. i was scared to do anything. after two hours me and Bri got something to eat. after that i decided to be more fearless and try to do more hard stuff. then i started grinding on boxes in the trick part of the mountain and i started racing. it was a lot of fun. i didn't get injured and that was really good because i wouldn't want to get for basketball season. i am enjoying my self for this winter break. it is nice to know i dont have school tomorrow and i dont have any homework to deal with. i hope this break never ends!

this week was great. we had two games and we won them both. our basketball season is starting great with a record of 3-0. our next game is friday. i am excited for it. also, in class i liked the mystery and thriller type of stories that we are starting. i really liked when a stranger calls. it was kinda funny how everyone was pretty scared over the smallest things. i also like how suspenseful it was. today was fun to. i had a choir concert. it took all day because we had two shows at three and six. i got there at one and left at eight. i was so tired by the end but it was fun and we did good. this put me in a good holiday mood. i cant wait for christmas break. i have so much planned. i cant wait for christmas and new year. they are always fun. i cant wait for christmas day, not for the gift this year but what i am giving other people. i dont really have anything i want but i cant wait to give gifts to my family and friends. i like to see their reactions. i am also going to go snowboarding a lot this winter. i used to snowboard a couple years ago but then i stopped. i think this year i am going to get a pass at mad river mountain and start snowboarding again. i used to be pretty good but i dont know if i will be just as good or if i lost it all. hopefully its like riding a bike where you never forget how to do it. ok well thats a good amount of time i put into this but i had a lot to talk about. good night everybody!

blog

this week was a good week of of school. there was a lot of stuff we did in english that i liked. i liked the movie we watched about the holocaust. that dad sacrificed a lot for his son even his life. i thought it was pretty smart of the dad to make it a game. the rules he made were pretty funny to. the kid was cute and he was gullible. he believed everything but it was for his own good. also the dad acted very silly whenever he was around his kid. he would walk funny when the guard was right behind him with a gun pointed at him. the ending was really good. the kid believed he won the tank ride home. it was ironic that a man in a tank saved him. this was probably very exciting for the kid. then he met his mother in the end. i wonder if he thought about his dad and wondered where he was. his dad was a great guy and saved his kid. i also liked all the stories we read. the debates we had were fun to. it was a lot of fun to here people go back and forth. it was also funny when Mr. Potter would confuse people. that would make me laugh. we only have two more weeks of school before winter break and i cant wait to get out for two weeks. that will be great and christmas will be a lot of fun to. alright i am done and time to get ready for practice.

night john, mascot, and the great debaters

"Night John" is a story of a slave and her experiences. A girl named Sarny lived on a plantation in the south. she was a young slave. the plantation owner was called old waller and all the salves hated him. one day he bought a new slave. the slave was named night john. he had wipe marks on his back and had very dark colored skin. he then traded Sarny letters for some tobacco. Sarny was interested and she wanted to learn how to read. she found out that night john had escaped from being a slave. Sarny had only known of two people who had tried to escape. Jim was one of them. he did whatever he could think of to get away but old waller got the dogs after him. Jim climbed into a tree but he didn't go high enough. the dogs ripped all the meat off his legs and he stayed holding on the tree while he was dead. the other person that tried to run away was Alice. Alice wasn't a very good worker so she was forced to become a breeder. she didn't want to but she was raped. she then tried to run away but she didn't go far and she wanted to die. she was wiped and dogs attacked her but she survived and didn't do much since then. Sarny then found out that night john was caught and he came back because he needed to teach people to read and write. he felt that this was needed so people would know what the slave owners where doing to the slaves. Sarny did let the world know of her pain.
"Mascot" is part of Malcolm X's life that changed his way of thinking. As a child he was tall and not very athletic. his brother was a great boxer and he wanted to be one to. his first fight was against a white kid. he lost and he could not show his face in town. he trained hard and tried another fight with the same person. he was knocked out right in the beginning. that ended his boxing career. Malcolm then went to class, wearing a hat. the teacher made him walk around the classroom so everyone could see. Malcolm put a thumb tack on the teachers seat and and the teacher sat down. Malcolm was then sent to a detention home. the family there loved him for who he was. they didn't treat the same though. he heard the n word wherever he went. he went to school and got the best grades. when his teacher asked him what he wanted to when he grew up. he said he wanted to be a lawyer. the teacher told him that he couldn't be a lawyer because he was black and that he should be a carpenter. this frustrated him. he was one of the best in his class and he was being told to do something he didn't want to, when others that didn't have good grades but were white were told to do whatever they wanted. this is when his view changed and he wanted equal rights.
there were many similarities between "The Great Debaters", and the other two stories, "NightJohn" and "Mascot". One similarity is that Malcolm wanted to be a lawyer and and Samantha Booke wanted to be a lawyer. they both had the same dream but there is some differences. Malcolm never became a lawyer. Samantha did become a lawyer and was one of the first black women lawyers in texas. she was encouraged by her family and her friends to become whatever she wanted. for Malcolm, this was not the case. he didn't have a family to tell him to try it. he was actually discouraged to become a lawyer by his teacher. Also another similarity is lynching. In the Great Debaters, they saw a man lynched, and in NightJohn, Jim who tried to escape was holding on to a tree and dogs ripped off all the meat on his body which seemed like a lynching. they both were similar because they both where being held from a tree. also, they both were being cut and had body parts taken off their bodies. some differences where that in the Great Debaters, a mob lynched a negro and in NightJohn the negro was lynched by his owner. also in NightJohn, the dogs are the ones who caused all the pain. That is how the Great Debaters is similar to NightJohn and Mascot.

this weekend was much needed. i needed to catch up on some sleep and that is exactly what happened this weekend. except for yesterday, i woke up saw the clock and it said 9 30 and i had practice at ten! my alarm clock decided not to work. sorry Mr. Potter. i am defiantly ready for the five day weekend. it will be great. thanksgiving will also be great because my mom is cooking. she cooks for thanksgiving every year and makes my food like sweet potato surprise. hahaha. i love it so much. anyways this last week of school english class was pretty fun. The Great Debaters is a really good movie. the actors are very good because when they are debating, they seem angry and upset. they people in the movie are very intellectual. they know quotes from everything. i could never remember all of that. the movie is great so far and i can't wait to see the rest. this paper we are going to write sounds like its not fun. i wonder if we have to do it over the long weekend. if we do, at least it gives us a long time to do it. alright that is it. time to go play black ops! haha

this week, the movie we watched was pretty good. i think the actors chosen in the movie were great. they helped me with remembering the characters a lot. i also loved the play to kill a mockingbird. it was great even though it was a dress rehearsal. Mark Batke did a great job as Atticus. he was kind and serious when he needed to be. Jim and Scout were Grace and Aaron. they did great acting as children. they scenery was also amazing. the houses they made looked real and it seemed like a real street. the jail looked exactly how i imagined it. the court house was also great. i give the play a ten out of ten. the people chosen for each character made sense. like Crystal was a great choice for Cal. one thing i didnt like though was that the audience was acting immature. there was a lot of talking and people would laugh when something serious happened. also people would scream when it was not necessary. when Atticus yelled after his kids were attacked, people screamed and laughed. i didnt think that it was funny or scary. i thought it was very serious. i think some of the people didnt know how to act during the play. oh well, the play was still great. that is fifteen minutes and i am done.

blog

ok so this play we are reading, Twelve Angry Men, got me all hyped up. how could people believe that this kid is not guilty. there were two witnesses and he had no alibi and they knife was the exact same as the one the kid bought earlier that day. i feel like the eighth juror wanted to be a good lawyer for the kid because the actual lawyer wasn't very good. he would distort facts so that it seemed like the kid was innocent. after a while they gave in and more people decided to change their minds. then everyone changed their minds. if i was the last juror that didn't change his mind i would have been stubborn and made it a hung jury because any other jury would have been more reasonable and made more facts would have come out. i think this would of been better than just saying the kid was innocent. i feel like people who thought the kid was innocent just wanted a good story. it was so obvious. i shouldnt get so worked up over this because its not a real story so i guess i wont worry about it. that is fifteen minutes and now i get to finish the rest of my homework.

blog blog blog

today i have already played some basketball and got a haircut. its a pretty productive day so far. my hair is a lot shorter than it was before. i got two inches off. now i have to finish all my homework before two basketball games tonight. that should be fun. i have to finish all research paper. i have to revise it more and get the folder ready. it shouldnt be to bad. this leopold and loeb case is so messed up. they killed someone just to see if they could do it and get away with it. but i am glad to almost be done with this paper. life will be so much easier once it is done. then we are doing a play i think. plays arent that bad they can be fun sometimes. except sometimes i dont know what is going on. i hope twelve angry men, which i think we are reading, is different than romeo and juliet. i dont want to read a romance. i wonder if we will all have parts or if we just read it as a class. either one is fine with me. ok well that is fifteen minutes. im about to fall asleep so im gonna take a nap.

i forgot to do my blog. i completely forgot because of this research paper. i have a lot of work to do this week. i have to finish my outline, do my rough draft, and edit it for the final copy. i will just have to do a lot of work each day. it won't be that bad because this is my second time writing a research paper so i hopefully wont make all the same mistakes i did the first time. it takes a lot longer to write a resaearch paper than a regular paper because you have site each fact in the paper. on a regular paper you wouldnt have to worry about that. the citations do add a lot of space though. it makes it so you dont have to write as much. i am very interested with the case i chose. the case i chose was Leopold and Loeb. i am interested by this case becasue these boys did not commit a murder out of hate but they did it because they were bored and wanted something to do. they were very smart and would of been a great help to society if they didnt mess up their whole life by murding a young boy. they could of done so much but one mistake changed their lives. also the trial differente than most. the boys already admited to the murder and their lawyer tried to get them life in prison instead of the death penalty. i dont like this research paper much but i am glad i am doing it to learn about this trial.

ok so i was pretty excited for this short week but of course i get sick. -_-. im not feeling so great right now but i am have so much make up work and i have to do homework that was due monday like this. its good that i have all weekend to do it and rest up. so this research paper we are going to write is not going to be fun. we wrote one last year so thats good enough. this paper is so much work. you have to research and make a ton of fact notecards. then you have to use all those facts and put them into your paper. finally you have to site everything correctly which is a pain because i never seem to get it right the first time. i'll be honest and say i have to still find some of my sources but thats not all my fault because i haven't been feeling the best. i was procrastinating like everybody does and i was going to do all my homework on sunday. of course i felt terrible on sunday and wasn't able to do any of it. now that is 15 minutes. thank god cause i'm feeling pretty tired. i think i will take a nap.

Another Blog

Hello everyone! I am very tired right now. if i could, i would be in bed already. ya i know its only nine, but i have had a long day. i had to wake up at ten to go to a basketball shooting lesson. then i had a choir concert. i was there from one to five. thats a long four hours. i had to leave straight from that to go play in a fall basketball league. we won our first game but lost our second. it was tiring because my team only had five people. i came home ate and then started on my homework. im already tired enough to fall asleep right now. to kill a mocking bird is an amazing book. i have read it before and it was still as good as the first time if not better. i could see how the book could seem not connected at first but it all comes together in the end. to have boo save scout and jem from mr. ewell was pretty unexpected. by the way jordan your prediction was kinda off. haha. it was a good guess though. i like how the author used the title in the end. it makes it so the title is completely random. i like that the title has meaning. i hope that the test for this book isnt very hard. i understand the plot but i dont like having to remember small details that dont really affect the big picture of things. that is fifteen minutes. im about to finish my homework and fall asleep.

this blog is not as bad as i thought it would of been. fifteen minutes is shorter than most of my homework anyway. i also never have writer's block which i usually have when i right about random things. i also have to say that this english class is one of my favorite classes. i like this class because we don't have homework every day like most classes. the homework we do have is quick and gets to the point or it is reading which i like. i dont like the homework where you have to copy down a lot of stuff and it really doesnt connect to what we are learning. i also like to kill a mocking bird a lot. it is a very interesting with boo and i think the trial will be interesting also. i like how we read in class because when i dont understand something or need a question answered on the study guide i have help. that is fifteen minutes and i am all done.

second post

this week was a good week for me. i am kinda excited to read To Kill A Mockingbird. i have read it before in seventh grade and i remember that i liked it. i don't remember much though about the plot. there is also a movie for the book. it was pretty good but there was some different stuff that happened that weren't in the book. there was also stuff in the book that wasn't in the movie so don't get the idea that you could just watch the movie instead of reading the book. i like how we read in class. it makes it feel like the book is not as long as it really is. it is much better that we don't have to read the whole thing by ourselves. that helps because then i don't get lost like i sometimes do with other books. i like that we have the vocabulary filled in for us already. i felt like i always would put down the wrong definition. this makes it so it is not as hard to study. i kinda forgot that it was on the first quiz so i didn't study it well. i will be more prepared for the rest of them though. that is fifteen minutes. the bengals game just had the kick off and i am excited to watch!

This is my first blog on this confussing site. i had trouble trying to follow everyone but oh well. im pretty tired so i dont know what to write about! i think im going to take a nap after this and then finish my essay. i am kinda of excited for this year of english. Mr. Potter is a pretty funny teacher and that is what i like most about teachers. i like am glad we are done with the short story and poetry unit already because it was going over stuff that we have already done. i like peotry though. I like writing it more than i like reading it. its not hard to think of rhymes. it is like rap. i dont understand why people think writing it is so boring. i think writing this essay will be easy for me because i feel strongly about my topic. my topic is about the new school rule made this year. it is the rule that there is no body paint allowed at sporting events because it is against school dress code. i will be able to finsh it quick. i am almost done and i dont think there is anything else to talk about. i am watching the bengals game while i am doing this. the score is bengals 17 and patriots 31. it is not looking good for the bengals. with one whole quarter left they could come back though. lets hope they do! that is my fifteen minutes of writing. i will see everyone tomorrow.
